Vanaja's Fine Art

Artist's Profile

Vanaja is a Toronto artist and most of her work is a visual narrative inspired by her extensive travels. All this is reflected in her paintings in the wide array of subject matter, created in her studio from her own photographs capturing those moments. Her painting style & medium varies according to the subject matter - painterly realism, impressionistic rectangulism (I created this word!), or just abstracts which evolve with a mind of its own!

She is a member of and participates in the activities and shows of the following artists organizations:

- The Art Guild of Scarborough (on the Executive Board as Exhibition Chairperson)

- East Central Ontario Art Association (ECOAA)

- Central Ontario Art Association (COAA)

- Arts on the Credit (AOTC), Mississauga

Her paintings have been exhibited and sold in Art Square Gallery & Cafe (July 2017), a three-artist show (CedarRidge 2007), in Bayview Art Tour 2017 where she exhibited her paintings in her own home, in Leaside Public Library (2018) and in several juried shows regularly. She has also undertaken several commissions for portraits, landscapes, and abstracts.

Vanaja has attended classes in portraiture at the Ontario College of Arts and Design and has painted landscapes and still life under the instruction of many well known artists, and attended several workshops, including ones at the Haliburton School of the Arts and Loyalist College. Vanaja devotes most of her time to her two passions – painting, and the study of astrology/cards - creativity & science. The right side of the brain meeting the left side of the brain!
